The Kodak Theatre opened in late 2001, the crown jewel of the giant Hollywood & Highland project, and of the Hollywood renaissance in general. It was built to be the permanent home of the annual Academy Awards show. And it is a dazzling home, with three balcony levels and twenty opera boxes to lend a somewhat European flourish to the surroundings.
For over 70 years, the Hollywood Bowl has been the scene of some of the most memorable musical moments in Los Angeles history... symphonies, opera, jazz, ballet, presidential addresses, rock concerts... This is the world's largest natural amphitheater, virtually hidden away in the folds of the foothills of the Santa Monica mountains.
Drive by the Chinese Theatre on any day of the year, and you'll find hundreds of tourists milling about the famous forecourt, gazing down at the stars' footprints, handprints and autographs immortalized in the legendary cement. There have only been about 175 star prints made so far, and the remaining empty space in the theatre's small forecourt is scarce - so the honor is now reserved solely for true Hollywood superstars.
The new home to the Lakers, the Clippers (NBA), and the Kings (NHL), the Staples Center not only wooed two of the teams away from the Forum, they actually bought out the Forum itself! And with them came the celebrity fans who used to be a trademark of sports nights at that Inglewood arena.
This landmark observatory features an impressive Planetarium, periodically changing presentations, and a permanent exhibition in the main hall. It also features Laserium shows of sound and light.
